Legoland

Legoland

LEGOLAND Malaysia theme park, the first in Asia, is located in Nusajaya, Johor. Situated on 76 acres of land, the park is the sixth such park to open in the world.

Previous parks are located in Billund, Denmark (1968), Windsor, England (1996), California, USA (1999), Germany (2002), Florida, USA (2005).
LEGOLAND is built with over 40 interactive rides, shows and attractions. One of the main attractions here is Miniland. More than 30 million LEGO bricks were used in the building of the various monuments here including the Petronas Twin Towers, The Merlion Statue, Taj Mahal and others. These well-known buildings were built to a scale of 1:20 where people, trains and airplanes come to life at the touch of a button.
The KL Cluster at LEGOLAND Miniland has recently been upgraded with various new additions to represent the Kuala Lumpur that we are familiar with and love so much.
The KL Cluster initially consisted of the Old Kuala Lumpur Railway Station, Sultan Abdul Samad Building, Maybank Tower, KL Monorail, PETRONAS Twin Towers, and KLCC, among others.
Now, using a total of 3,665,220 LEGO bricks assembled by LEGO model builders in 26,594 hours, various additional monuments and buildings that are the very symbols of Kuala Lumpur have been added.
The new additions are Bukit Bintang, Tabung Haji Tower, National Monument, Petaling Street Arch, Wau Bulan Arch, Sri Mahamariamman Temple, and Sam Kow Tong Temple.
Another latest addition to the Miniland is the Istana Bukit Serene, which is the royal palace and official residence of the Sultan of Johor, located in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
It is certainly mind boggling to imagine the model designers stacking LEGO elements piece by piece and connecting different pieces together to emulate the actual building design. Hence, whether you’re a LEGO fan or not, you’ll be enthralled by the miniatures built with LEGO bricks at the LEGOLAND Miniland, which depict landmarks not just in Malaysia but also in other Asian countries.
Visitors from Brunei, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines and Vietnam will get to see their iconic national landmarks in miniature.
The Miniland at LEGOLAND Malaysia is the largest ever built for a new park, and the project took more than three years to complete. Many of the models are animated, so visitors can bring LEGO figures, trains and airplanes to life at the touch of a button.
Other attractions at the park include LEGO City, Land of Adventure, Imagination, LEGO Kingdom and LEGO Technic.
In the theme park, there is also an Observation Tower which is the highest tower in LEGOLAND Malaysia, some 60 meters from the ground. This is also the third LEGOLAND observation tower in the world after Denmark and Germany.
LEGOLAND is a fascinating place to visit for children and adults alike!

Pulau Kukup Johor National Park

Pulau Kukup Johor National Park

Pulau Kukup is one of the largest uninhabited mangroves in the world. It is also the only one situated in Johor waters.

Today, Pulau Kukup has received international recognition, being granted the status of a 'Wetland of International Importance' (RAMSAR site) by the Geneva- based Ramsar Convention Bureau.

A local folklore tells the tale of Pulau Kukup, an abode for five celestial princesses. One day, one of them fell in love with a sailor and they eloped. A curse was set upon the island of Kukup and it was submerged by sea.

The island later resurfaced, but it was covered in mangroves. Many have tried to settle on this island, but without success. Some say this is because the island is inhabited by spirits.

Pulau Kukup is today the home of countless species of wildlife. Among these are playful monkeys, quiet mudskippers and nosy wild boars.

Enjoy the beauty of the national park, and be immersed in a delightful natural ecosystem.

Pulau Sibu is a pleasant hideaway with its lush tropical vegetation, endless stretches of golden beaches and clear blue waters. The island is also dotted with numerous sea caves carved out of rocks. The constant pounding of the sea during the monsoon season has given the island a beautiful yet rugged appearance.

The surrounding waters contain fascinating coral reefs teeming with colourful marine life. Shipwrecks off its coast can also be found. Wang Burma Cave

Wang Burma Cave

Located at the northern-most edge of Peninsula Malaysia, the state of Perlis is easily accessible via the North-South Highway, which links Kangar, the state capital of Perlis, to Kuala Lumpur. Perlis State Park is located about 42km from Kangar town and around 10km from the Malaysia-Thai border of Wang Kelian.

Wang Burma Cave is one of the most popular caves within the Perlis State Park. It is a haven for spelunking. The cave’s stalactites and stalagmites resemble pillars, curtains and cascades which were formed over millions of years. Enthusiasts can explore the cave at a leisurely pace, or climb, crawl and squeeze between narrow passages and muddy tunnels.

Some caves such as Gua Kelam, are known for its subterranean rivers, which have been the site of tin-mining activities. International speleologists have visited Malaysia to document the cave’s history and fauna.

The journey starts with an uphill jungle-trekking guided by an experienced Forest Ranger. Along the route, tourists will learn about various medicinal and poisonous plants and trees. The journey will take approximately 40 minutes to reach the entrance of the cave.  Well-known for its streams and exotic species of insects and fungi, the cave system is divided into two main caves: Wang Burma Satu, the less challenging cave with a more scenic background. It has unique rock formations comprising of stalactites, stalagmites and columns. Wang Burma Dua is physically and mentally challenging with its dark hooks and turns, narrow passages and muddy tunnels –  adventurer tourists will have to crawl and squeeze their way through to reach the amazing water-worn rock formations in the inner part of the cave.

Tourists are advised to get a qualified guide and permission from the Perlis Forestry Department before going for the cave exploration. The total time to explore the entire Wang Burma cave system will take approximately 3 1/2 hours. Buddy system is advisable.
